Franklin Ready to Bowl over Competition

With the first practice scheduled for December 17,
Charles Mallonee is gearing up for a groundbreaking season. Coach Mallonee is looking to
bring attention to the program in order to offer another way for students to participate in
athletics.
Coach Mallonne credits the interest in the team this year to the successful advertising
that was done by Mr. Spears and the morning announcements crew. Getting the word out about
the team is a crucial part when forming an allied team.
“The first year is so important,” said Mallonee. “It is important to get the ball
rolling, so to speak. Getting the team established and being able to field the team is our priority
this year.”
Mallonee was very pleased with the number of kids that showed up to the
introductory meeting
“The kids are going to be able to gain a sense of camaraderie among their teammates.
Being able to not have to cut kids is great because you get to mold the team into what you want
it to be.” said Mallonee. About 23 students showed up for the first meeting.
Mallonee’s interest in bowling started at a young age when he attended
multiple bowling parties. He then took a class at
formally taught the sport. He hopes to pass on what he learned to
